Stannon stone circle
A sketch and stroll to Stannon Stone circle, Bodmin Moor Stannon is rich area for lumps, bumps and possible prehistoric archaeology. It does make me wonder what could have on the moorland that has now been quarried away. The exciting spot on this trip however was the sun-basking adder (twice!) . It always feels a privilege to be able to observe wildlife in their natural environments. About forty stones are standing in a 43 metre by 39 metre irregular circle. There is pronounc

The circle sits within a wide natural bowl between Roughtor, Garrow Tor, Brown Willy a

Trippet Stone Circle
Sketching with the skylarks at Trippet Stone circle, near Blisland, Bodmin moors. Starting further south, just north of the A30 the vegetation change in the shallow valley suggested a boggy area. We did not stray down into the rough sedges but some moorland cows confirmed this, ankle deep in a muddy pool. By the time this water course reaches the area of the Trippet stones, it has coalesced into a stream and dropped into a small steep valley that separating the common from t
