A local stroll
A stroll and a sketch near my beautiful home. I am trying to build up the good habit of keeping a sketchbook in my little bag so that when I take a breather on a walk I can do a sketch. Here I am at between Foss Quay and Southdown, the beach accessible at low tide only. The woods are in all their summer glory! Also a favourite spot of mine for gathering pottery fragments and other interesting treasure.

A remix of Rise
A reworking or a ‘remix’ as one of my bandmates said the other day. I pulled out two moorland paintings from a number of years ago. They had escaped the gesso as I had been pleased with the compositions but not quiet satisfied with the finished paintings enough to put them out there. Stannon stone circle
A sketch and stroll to Stannon Stone circle, Bodmin Moor Stannon is rich area for lumps, bumps and possible prehistoric archaeology. It does make me wonder what could have on the moorland that has now been quarried away. The exciting spot on this trip however was the sun-basking adder (twice!) . Green Rame
On the easel… work in progress Rame head from Whitsands. I am experimenting with ways of painting the same view using different approaches, at different scales. I have been wanting to revisit this particular colour palette of steely greys for some larger seascapes. It uses a two colour chords of warm greys and cooler, greener greys all mixed from Emerald Green, Indian Red and titanium white – bringing in just a touch of blue at the end.
