Rest - tamar sailing barge, river lyhner. Original artwork by Helen Elizabeth Manley

‘Rest’

Acrylic on canvas, 40x30cm

Inspired by a photo taken many years ago when it seemed that this creek on the Lynher would suitably be the final resting place of the Lyhner, a Tamar sailing barge built in 1891 and in service until the 1950’s. She’s now restored and sailing upon the estuary once more. I often revisit her old friend –the Millom Castle, built 1870, who served sixty years at sea and still rests in this quiet spot.
